Carpet that suits how your house is used
Carpet is still the warmest thing you can put under bare feet on a Michigan January morning. BRC Flooring measures, supplies, and installs it in bedrooms, family rooms, and finished basements across Metro Detroit. Carlos Sr. and Carlos Jr. do the work themselves, with our own crew. No subcontractors.
Before we talk color, we talk about the room. Who walks through it, whether there are pets, and whether the slab underneath ever gets damp. Those answers narrow the choices fast.
- Nylon: the toughest fiber, a good fit for hallways and busy family rooms
- Polyester: very soft and stain resistant, popular in bedrooms and with kids
- Low loop or tight cut pile for stairs and traffic lanes
- Plush for quiet rooms where comfort comes first

Old houses, new carpet
A lot of Detroit and inner-suburb homes were built between the 1920s and 1960s. Under the carpet we often find tack strips that have rusted, staples left from earlier jobs, or hardwood boards nobody knew was there. We pull all of it, check the subfloor, and tell you what we see before we lay anything.
If a floor is uneven or soft in spots, we flag it and can handle subfloor leveling and prep as part of the same visit, so the new carpet does not telegraph every dip.

Basements and damp-prone rooms
Freeze-thaw cycles and spring thaw put real moisture into basement slabs. Broadloom over a damp slab is a bad bet. In those rooms we usually steer you toward modular carpet squares or, if the space floods or sweats, luxury vinyl plank, which shrugs off water.
Tell us honestly how your basement behaves. We would rather change the plan at the estimate than come back in a year.

How a carpet install goes
We pull the old carpet and pad, haul it away, inspect the floor, and set tack strips. New pad goes down, then the carpet is power-stretched tight and seamed so the joints sit out of sight lines. Doorways and transitions get trimmed clean.
Most rooms and many whole houses are done in a single day, and we vacuum up before we leave. Every install comes with a 1-year workmanship warranty. Planning stairs too? See our carpet stairs page.

Yes. Removal and disposal are part of the job, and we check the subfloor once it is exposed. If something needs fixing, you hear about it before we proceed.
Only if the slab stays dry. Many Michigan basements do not, so we often suggest modular carpet squares or vinyl plank for those rooms.
